Architecture Conferences in the USA: The 2026 and 2027 Calendar

The short answer

The major US architecture events still ahead are Greenbuild in New York in October 2026, the Facades+ regional series through late 2026, and then the AIA Conference on Architecture and Design in Philadelphia from 19 to 22 May 2027, followed by NeoCon in Chicago in June 2027. AIA and Greenbuild are the two national gatherings; everything else is regional or specialist.

Dates last verified August 2026. Organisers move events, and some 2027 dates are announced by month before the exact days are set. Every event name in the tables links to the official site. Confirm there before you book travel or a booth.

Still to come in 2026

Most of the 2026 calendar has already happened. What is left is the autumn run, which is the busiest stretch of the year for enclosure and sustainability events.

The 2027 calendar

This is where planning effort is better spent. Booth space and speaking slots for the national events are allocated far in advance, and the useful hotel blocks go early.

How to choose the two that are worth your year

The mistake is treating a conference as continuing education that happens to have a floor attached. For a practice, it is a business development decision with a five figure cost, and it should be made like one.

Decide which of four things you are buying before you book anything.

The cost nobody puts in the budget

The badge is the smallest line. A single attendee at a national event usually means flights, three or four hotel nights at conference rates, meals, and three to four days when that person bills nothing. For a small practice that is routinely three to five times the ticket price.

Which is an argument for going to fewer events properly, not for skipping them. Two well-worked conferences beat six walked floors.

The part that decides whether it was worth it

Value is determined about three weeks before the event, not during it. The people worth meeting have their calendars filled by the time the doors open, and the ones with open diaries on day two are generally not the ones you travelled for.

  • Three weeks out, pull the exhibitor and speaker lists, pick fifteen names, and ask each for twenty minutes at a specific time. Reference the event as your reason for writing, which is exactly the kind of genuine trigger that makes outreach work.
  • Book the meetings off the floor. Hotel lobbies and breakfast slots beat a stand where both of you are being interrupted.
  • Post while you are there. A few observations from sessions are the easiest content you will write all quarter, and the people you just met are the ones reading it.
  • Follow up within 48 hours, before the other three hundred conversations they had catch up with them.

The follow-up window is where most conference budget is quietly wasted. A firm that meets forty people and writes to none of them has bought an expensive week of continuing education.

Also worth knowing

  • Facades+ runs a rolling regional series. The 2027 cities announced so far include San Francisco, Atlanta, New York, Houston, Washington DC, Salt Lake City, and Toronto. Dates are published closer to each date, so watch the series page rather than planning a year out.
  • Greenbuild 2027 has a date but not a city yet. If the location matters to your travel budget, wait for the announcement before committing.
  • AIA27 registration opens in early 2027. Exhibitor booth sales open well before attendee registration, so if you are selling rather than attending, that decision is already live.

If your work sits closer to delivery than design, the construction conference calendar covers World of Concrete, Groundbreak, and the Advancing series, and explains the gap where CONEXPO would normally be.

Frequently asked questions

When and where is the AIA Conference on Architecture 2027?

The AIA Conference on Architecture and Design 2027, known as AIA27, runs from 19 to 22 May 2027 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The organisers describe around 350 expert-led sessions carrying HSW, GBCI, RIBA, and AIA learning credits, alongside the expo floor and architect-led building tours. Registration and housing open in early 2027, and booth sales for exhibitors open earlier.

What is the biggest architecture conference in the USA?

The AIA Conference on Architecture and Design is the largest gathering of practising architects in the United States, and it carries the largest expo floor aimed at the profession. Greenbuild is the largest event focused on green building and sustainability, and draws a broader mix of engineers, contractors, and building owners alongside architects.

Are architecture conferences worth the cost?

It depends entirely on whether you go with a goal. Attending to absorb the programme is usually a poor return for a small practice, because the sessions are recorded or repeated elsewhere. Attending with fifteen pre-booked conversations, a specific hire in mind, or three suppliers to evaluate in person is where the return comes from. Budget three to five times the badge price once travel, hotel, and lost fee-earning days are counted.

Which conference is best for winning work rather than learning?

Events where your clients go, not events where architects go. If you design warehouses, the logistics and industrial property events are worth more than any architecture conference. Greenbuild is the exception among the design-led events, because building owners and developers attend it in numbers. The general rule is that peer conferences build reputation and referrals, and client-sector conferences build pipeline.

When is NeoCon 2027?

NeoCon 2027 runs from 13 to 16 June 2027 at The Mart in Chicago. It is North America's largest exposition for commercial interiors, so it matters most to practices doing workplace, hospitality, and interiors work, and to anyone specifying furniture and finishes at volume.
